Dr. Ron Masri is a successful and highly-skilled physical therapist specializing in the treatment of various orthopedic injuries involving the elbow, shoulder, spine, hip, knee, and ankle for 18 years. He brings a hands-on approach to his practice and provides patients with specialized knowledge, skills, and abilities that are not easily found anywhere else in the New River Valley due his impressive accolades.
Ron is the only practicing Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapy (FAAOMPT) in the New River Valley area and a part of the 1% of therapists who hold this certification.
What does this mean when it comes to your treatment? The results of a preliminary study by Rodeghero et al, suggests that physical therapists who have fellowship training are able to provide better outcomes in fewer treatment sessions compared to other physical therapists.
Ron, having completed a nationally recognized fellowship training in orthopedic manual physical therapy, is able to more efficiently manage complex patient situations and perform a higher level of critical thinking and clinical reasoning to better serve patients. Through the fellowship, Ron also now teaches and serves as a mentor to other fellows in training from across the country.
Moreover, Dr. Masri has his Doctorate in Physical Therapy and Orthopedic Clinical Specialist (OCS), is a Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC) by the National Athletic Trainers’ Board of Certification and reaches out to local high schools in the area to ensure the safety of the students during athletic competition. He received a Bachelor’s in Sports Medicine and Athletic Training from the University of Virginia, a Master’s in Physical Therapy from Old Dominion University and a clinical Doctorate in Physical Therapy (DPT) from the Medical College of Virginia. Moreover, Ron is actively involved with the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) and the Virginia Physical Therapy Association (VPTA) serving in various leadership roles. Dr. Masri currently serves as an Adjunct Faculty for clinical internships for many of the Physical Therapy Programs around the state and has also been offered Adjunct Faculty status in the Doctorate of Physical Therapy Program at South College in Knoxville, TN. Due to Ron’s hard work and dedication to his profession, Total Motion Physical Therapy is a credentialed residency cite for the Orthopedic Residency Program through Evidence in Motion. Dr. Masri is committed to clinical physical therapy excellence by providing comprehensive care to his patients, while continuing to learn and develop in his professional career as well. He values respect, quality, trust, teamwork, compassion, and service.
